  22. SUPERSCAPE VR PLC SELECTED AS KEY PARTNER IN MICRO FOCUS' EMERGING 
  23. TECHNOLOGIES PROGRAM

  25. Virtual reality software developer, Superscape VR plc, has announced the 
  26. signing of a major distribution agreement with Micro Focus for the US 
  27. marketplace. Under the terms of the agreement, signed on Friday 19 August, 
  28. Micro Focus has selected Superscape as one of the leaders in virtual reality 
  29. software for its recently announced Emerging Technology Program. The agreement 
  30. between Superscape and Micro Focus is one of the first to be announced for the 
  31. Emerging Technology Program, the charter for which is 'to identify key new 
  32. technology areas, select the best of breed offerings in these areas and work 
  33. with customers to explore creative and productive applications of these 
  34. products.'

  36. According to Barbara Bouldin, Manager Business Development, Micro Focus: "We 
  37. selected Superscape as a key partner in the Emerging Technologies Program 
  38. because Superscape had the best VR front-end to promote to our customers. In 
  39. Superscape VRT, we see a product that spars your imagination and inspires you 
  40. to use the computer in a way that it hasn't been used before. To adapt to new 
  41. or changing way of doing things, you need software that motivates you 
  42. substantially through the learning curve. Superscape delivers this 
  43. motivation."

  45. Superscape launched its flagship product, Superscape VRT in 1991. Since then 
  46. the product has been sold to more than twenty countries world-wide and to such 
  47. organisations as the RAF, Logica, Westland System Assessment, Colt, Intel 
  48. Corporation, Broadsword Television and Tyne and Wear Development Corporation. 
  49. Superscape VRT is a complete interactive virtual world creation and editing 
  50. system; the Superscape Visualiser is run-time software visualising virtual 
  51. worlds. Development kits and network versions are also available. Superscape 
  52. VRT was recently voted 1994 VR Software Product of the Year by the independent 
  53. US organisation, Mecklermedia.

  55. Key to the success of the product to date has been its ease of use, high 
  56. performance on 486 and Pentium PCs, the ability to assign intelligence and 
  57. physical attributes to objects created in the virtual world and the 
  58. integration of the software editors, allowing rapid design and development 
  59. without the need for programming skills.

  61. Ian Andrew, founder and managing director of Superscape is enthusiastic about 
  62. the agreement with Micro Focus: "We have just established an office in the USA 
  63. and the partnership with Micro Focus will provide us with an excellent 
  64. fast-track into their mature and very influential customer base. The deal is 
  65. yet another significant confirmation that virtual reality is being adopted as 
  66. a mainstream technology by the traditional computing and software industry."

  68. With immediate effect, Micro Focus will be re-selling the entire Superscape 
  69. product line in North America.
